Friday afternoon with Beekeeper Miri exploring the stark Negev Brigade Memorial National Park, on the outskirts of Beersheva, Israel:
While there, a local musician, Itai Armon, played a plaintive, free-form solo on the oud and flute, in the spherical Hall of Names of the fallen.
Together with the buffeting wind outside the dramatic elemental concrete forms, the expressive melody set a rough-edged wordless prayer for the Palmach soldiers and civilians killed in fighting during the 1948 War of Independence.
